2010-03-03 - nothing special
This could (or better should) have been a short story. Needlessly dragged to 300 pages
I am a fan of King's but this one is kinda lame and slow

2010-02-24 - A satisfying read
I just started reading Stephen King books last year. Recently I've been drawn towards King's Bachman books. First was The Running Man which I thought was awesome. Thinner was second on the list. I had remember seeing the trailer for the movie back when it was in theaters years ago and always wanting to see it. However, once I discovered Stephen King and the fact that he was actually the author of the book that inspired the movie, I decided to read the book first.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I'll admit that it was not exactly not what I thought it would be and once I was 50 pages in I had no idea how it would continue on for over 200 pages but in the end the book filled out quite nicely. To me, the highlight of the book was one of the side character by the name of Richard Ginelli. He was entertaining and really helped carry the story for the later 100 pages or so.
I plan on seeing the movie but I do not have high expectations given the reviews that I've read here on Amazon. Despite how bad the movie may be... I highly recommend the book to any King fan out there. Although it was not one of his best books that I've read so far, it was still quite good. So pick up the book and enjoy!

2010-02-08 - My wife loves the book
Book arrived quickly and in great condition. The more devout of the two Stephen King fans in my house is very pleased.

2009-12-31 - Not to be missed, if you are a King's fan!
After many disappointing experiences with the latest King's books (most recent one being "The Cell", which is probably one of the worst books I've ever read), I have been very glad to come across "Thinner". This book is dated back to 1985, and it is a real page turner, in the best King's tradition. The story is unfolding at a very fast pace, and the way it ends is just...unpredictable!
If you liked books like "It" and "The girl who loved Tom Gordon", don't miss this book, you will not be disappointed!

2009-11-13 - Suspenseful but not frightening
Perhaps I have an immunity to the chills of Stephen King's writing, but this book is not scary. The storyline itself is about an overweight lawyer who gets cursed for killing a gypsy woman and begins to lose weight... without ever reaching a limit. As his friends and family all become frightened and baffled by his inexplicable weight loss, the lawyer is haunted by ominous images of impending disintegration. The novel itself is quite suspenseful and intriguing, but overall the book did not have a very memorable effect on me.
